In terms of mountain biking terrain, Lanzarote can be divided into 3 parts - the North, Middle & South of the island:

The North of the island has the greatest variety of mountain bike trails either staying low on the old dirt tracks / dried up river beds (barrancos) or climbing high up to the peaks around Máguez / Haria etc.

The middle of the island around Teguise also has a multitude of volcanoes to tackle with many interlinking tarmac roads & dirt tracks, if you know where to look. The altitudes here, are in general, not so great as in the North of the island.

The South of the island around Playa Blanca, the Rubicon, El Golfo, Femés & Yaiza varies between rugged high mountain dirt tracks & gentle gradients in & around the lava flows.
